Hot Dresses

I have been anxiously awaiting a sale so I can purchase these McCall's dresses!  Aren't they awesome?

How cute is 6553 from the new Fashion Star line? It happens to be the $2.99 Item of the Day on the McCall's site, in case you can't wait. Beware of the $4 S&H.


Honorable mention to 6552! It feels a little like KS3856, which is a knit, and S2031. This pattern is for knits and wovens!



6555 makes me swoon! The color blocking is wonderful. Talk about drama!



Next up is 6558. Hoping I'll be blessed with the ingenuity (skill and the spirit of completion) to turn it into something like this.



Last, but not least is 6557. Simply breezy.

Pattern Palooza

Woo Hoo! I think I went from six to only three doses of the pain medication yesterday. This means that probably for the first day in two weeks, I was awake more than I was asleep! While I've been on the mend, I've noticed three new spring collections -- New Look, Burda and Vogue.

I think spring collections are my favorites because it's all about the dress! These did not disappoint. New Look is first. Please forgive the wonky formatting. Blogger and I are not friends today.

And here comes Burda! I'm glad these are on the Simplicity site, so I can read them in English. I just wish the Simplicity site was designed differently. It's too hard to pull good-sized pictures of the patterns.

I think this is my fav. Summer can't get here quick enough.














Close runner-up for favorite. How hot is this top? Two things I love cowl-y/drape-y neckline and a tie.

Vogue, I do have a bone to pick with you. Not one single Very Easy Vogue Custom Fit Dress?? Guess I've been spoiled. And *ahem* it looks like you're still working out the bugs with the pictures.

Summer -- Brought to You By Butterick

Butterick has released the new summer patterns! This makes two great collections in a row for Butterick. This one is all about the dress. Some of these have multiple cup sizes. Sweet!

This dress, 5638, may not work on me, but I love the style.

5641 has multiple cup sizes.

5637 has multiple cup sizes too. This one is on the "sew it soon" list.

I love 5642 too. 

5655 is probably going to New Orleans with me.

5643 will see NOLA too. (I know this is wishful thinking.) Great for chilly restaurants and sweltering streets. I wish this was sized for jersey. Can't I just make it a size smaller? Of course I want the long version.

I want no part of the pockets on 5640.  I thought about this one a lot because it reminds me of KS3856. I decided I like the band around the waist in this one better.

I did see a top that piqued my interest, 5644. I think I want a shorter version.

New Look Summer 2011

The latest collection from New Look is here.  There's a new line called New Look Workroom and it's associated with Project Runway. As a marketer, this makes no sense to me. Anyhoo, even with New Look Workroom, I like only one pattern in the collection, 6047.

I've really been impressed by the knit tops in the last few collections. That's so not the case with this one, but this dress makes up for that. Lovin' this version of the infinity dress, M6353!



M6350 is so sweet. It comes with multiple cup sizes.


M6357 is perfect for hot days.

New Kwik Sew

Still working on my muslin. Working on the pattern alts for #4.  If I never see orange fabric again, I think I'll be okay :-)
